@julietteamie: Is it fair to say this is a tiny bit hypocritical!? I’m confused 😭🤣 TELL ME WHATS GOING ON! #brownbread #boston #britinamerica #lifeinamerica
I’ve lived south of Boston for my entire 45 years and never have I ever eaten or witnessed a single soul eat bread from a can 😳

I am a senior citizen that has lived 90% of my life in MA. I have never, ever eaten bread from a can. Neither has anyone in my family or anyone that I know. Who puts bread in a can??? I honestly wonder what part of NE eats bread from a can?

Have you guys tried making a boiled dinner yet? Corn beef and cabbage is a very traditional New England dinner not just for St. Patrick’s Day. 😊

Growing up we would have franks and beans with the canned brown bread. You are right that it was because we did not have a ton of money.

72 yr old New Englander and grew up on canned brown bread. Have NEVER eaten it with beans on top. My mother would make hotdogs, beans and steamed brown bread (spread butter on the warm bread) separate on a plate.

Brown bread is a molasses bread, canned bread with beans is a Great Depression food like beans on toast is a WW2 food. Most people don't eat it anymore, I haven't had it since I was a kid. Boston used to be a major port for transporting molasses to Europe from the Caribbean, that's why Boston baked beans are sweet we used to put molasses in everything.
