@julias.algos: In July 2025, India’s market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), accused Jane Street Group LLC of gaming the Bank Nifty options market using ultra-fast, highly coordinated trades that allegedly nudged prices around on expiry days so the firm’s positions would pay off big. SEBI said this wasn’t just sharp trading but market manipulation, temporarily banned Jane Street from trading in India, and froze about $567 million in what it called illegal profits. Jane Street pushed back hard, saying it was just doing standard index arbitrage that any sophisticated quant shop would do, put the money in escrow, and appealed the ruling. this is what happens in America with options too. it's called max pain. somehow coincidentally a sticks price would sit on expiry days just below the point where options expire worthless then go back after. that's why most traders lose money on options
