I remember Basquiat when he worked at Unique Boutique. He was so kind and absolutely tender. My best friend from high school would make cassettes of French music for him and he’d give us his art postcards. He introduced us to Keith Haring and Andy Warhol at Area — the old guys. And Keith Haring danced exactly like his art figures.

NYC was a poop hole.. she was not privileged at all… if it was uptown maybe but not downtown. Know your history before casting judgement. Go watch RENT and you’ll see where she lived… lots of drugs… this generation has no idea how bad NYC was in the 70/80 early 90s. It was made better so this generation can walk around with your headphones and not have to get unalived or mugged for not paying attention.

Yeah, I grew up in the suburbs north of NYC, my cousins from NYC would come to visit, they loved our backyard and some woods behind that, young boys really seem to love that
