@dr.garthdavis08: New study recently published in JAMA looked at the data from the Swedish Obesity Study, which is a long-term prospective study of age matched and weight matched subiects that either underwent weight loss surgery or usual medical care for obesity. The study in question looked at breast cancer rates. They found the premenopausal woman, especiallv those with high insulin levels, had a substantial reduction, the risk of developing breast cancer over an average of 24 years. We know that Obesity creates insulin resistance, and we know that high insulin levels are risk factor for cancer because insulin is a growth factor.bariatric surgery has demonstrated great efficacy at preventing several cancers, especially breast cancer. #Usa
