Yeah no, here in the US, a doctors note is usually to "prove" to your employer that you are, in fact, sick or injured, so they cannot fire you for needing time off....

In America, jobs that do not provide any sort of health insurance to its employees will tell them they must get a dr’s note and find coverage for any missed time. And it’s all unpaid unless you have enough PTO to cover it.

If I called in two day in a row I had to have a doctor's note. I worked in retail which meant weekends. Try getting a doctor's note on a Saturday night or Sunday without going to the ER.

Wait…you get paid? If we even take doctors notes, it just keeps you from getting fired (unless you have PTO to use…but if you don’t, then youre just home not getting paid)

Okay so in America, a doctors note just proves to your job that you’re sick. They can still fire you, if they feel like it. No you don’t get paid. You can’t use your PTO because it’s a “request”.
