Notice the disgusting male sexual entitlement and rape apologism. If the act of intercourse is mandated within marriage, then it is not consensual. Consent requires the absence of coercion. Sex under patriarchy is structured by thousands of years of social, economic, political, and ideological coercion. This includes gender norms, economic dependence, compulsory heterosexuality, religious obligation, and other forces that shape women’s lives long before any individual sexual encounter takes place. What it means to be a woman—and all the political and sexual implications—is socially imposed on female-sexed bodies in male-dominated societies.
