Hi lesbian content creator who focuses a lot on queer sports romance here- this being marketed as lesbian heated rivalry is just false. It’s a lesbian sports romance. It’s not heated rivalry. It’s not supposed to be the taboo of HR it’s meant to be “this is us getting the behind the scenes story we don’t usually get of athletes we love”, but ppl are taking the HR makerketing and running.

it's not going to hit the same because straight middle aged white women who ride for HR don't gaf about lesbians. Also I think sports lesbians are so recognized as... a genre(??) of sapphic women, not that I'd hate seeing queer sporty women get books and series and movies, I personally think of some inherently seen as 'straight' because not many queer women are recognized in it like two pageant queens or gymnasts/skaters even though theyre also sports

Women’s sports is super gay unless you play it in a mini skirt. I don’t make the rules. I think netball would be very good because it’s no knelt one of the ‘Mini skirt sports’ but it’s an all female sport and the culture of the sport is only constructed by women and as much as I love netball and women it can get very toxic.

exactly! the whole point of heated rivalry is kind of to call out the fact there’s a lot of queer hockey players or just men in sports in general that have to hide who they are because it’s so openly homophobic. If it was two female cheerleaders, i think THEN it’ll hit the same.
