Often limerence stems from an unhappy childhood where the world you created in your head was there for escapism. Children and adults can battle with it. They go to a place in their head where they create scenarios and in those scenarios they are celebrated and loved- unlike the experience of their reality. As adults limerence can still have the same roots but be amplified by boredom, a sense of lostness/lack of direction and purpose in life. Too much free time!! The strongest desire to indulge in limerence will always come from a root of feeling unwanted, not good enough but at least this person in your head- the fantasy- chooses you.

limerence happens when the person "you wanted to choose you" didn't choose you. coz if the person you like and also wanted to choose you "chose you" you'd feel secure and not really dwell in limerence. and fun fact is limerence might never fade, what you'd do is replace each person with the next person. it can be stopped by choosing people that choose you first not choosing people first before they decide if they should choose you, which is 100% their right to.

This really hit home, like every single word of it. Still trying to get over him but I’ve never felt so deeply seen and understood by someone.
