@capitalist.critique: Patriarchy assigns political meaning to bodies rather than simply recognizing biological differences. Although all human bodies are physically capable of penetration, penetration is defined in a way that preserves male bodily integrity while constructing female bodies as the proper site of entry. When a man is penetrated, it is framed as humiliation, punishment, or loss of status, something that violates what his body is supposed to represent. His body is presumed closed, sovereign, and intact, so penetration is treated as an injury rather than a normal condition. By contrast, women’s bodies are defined as naturally open and sexually accessible, so penetration is normalized and treated as constitutive of womanhood itself. Women’s bodily boundaries are therefore never assumed to be fully intact in the first place. Intercourse, under these conditions, is not a neutral or symmetric act, but one organized by a system in which one class’s bodily integrity is symbolically protected while the other’s is structurally surrendered. Andrea Dworkin was a very brave woman to say this, especially 39 years ago on The Donahue Show in 1987. Any woman who says this is brave.
