Because there’s only a certain amount of room for overhead luggage. People travelling light don’t wanna have to out luggage into hold. Hope this helps

2 reasons, to secure overhead baggage space by your seat and also ALL airlines overbook the plane due to no shows and late cancellations, you can get to your seat and somebody is already sat there, perfectly legally with the same ticket as you and if there are no spare seats YOU are not flying.

To put luggage above your head. Nobody wants to have to wait till the plane is empty to collect their bag from the back of the plane then leave by the front doors. It’s not difficult to understand.

In my case it’s because overhead lockers. I always buy first row seat when I fly with Ryanair. My luggage must go above (all of it because it is security row) so if I don’t get on the plane asap, I’ll lose my space overhead and my luggage will be somewhere way behind. That is a big problem when I have to catch a train or sthg, because I need more time to get the luggage over all those people and then get out of the plane🙂.

You may have an allocated seat but that doesn’t guarantee you overhead baggage space above your seat as that’s first come first served so unless you want to be putting your bags at the back of the plane where you can’t get easy access or even keep an eye on your valuables then yes I’m lining up thank you

Because they want to mainly. It can also be to get space in the overhead compartment close to your seat, so you do not have to take your luggage to the other side of the plane. And in case there is overbooking, people who board last may be left out.

if you only have carry on cases then you want the over head space and if you're last on you might have to put your case in the hold which defeats having just carry on

The overhead locker. If you are traveling a short flight, I think is OK to sit like you, but if you have an intercontinental flight, this queue matters a lot.

The only time I’d queue would be if I hadn’t booked a specific seat. Otherwise I stay seated and get on after all the mayhem.

I tried not to que at the end no room for my baggage. They have to put them far away wheare I seated which is so difficult to get them during landing. Waited all the pasenger to go and nearly missed my next flight 😁😳
