@horserescue_sanctuary: Sweet Reilly. She is fighting with everything she has, even on days when she clearly doesn’t feel well ❤️‍🩹 She’s still eating, but definitely feeling and acting dumpy. Strangles is a miserable respiratory disease, and it’s been hard on her body. The eye that was shot is draining quite a bit and has a strong odor. We clean it daily, and she is such a good, patient girl through it all. We were surprised to find maggots present. While we have intentionally used medical maggots before for difficult wounds and know how beneficial they can be, it still felt heartbreaking to see them there — just one more thing this girl has had to endure. We carefully cleaned everything and gave her lots of reassurance and love 💗 On Monday, she’ll be heading back to the hospital to be fully rechecked and to hopefully make plans to remove the eye ❤️‍🩹 We will continue fundraising to help cover Reilly’s ongoing care, as well as Mary and Jim’s hospital costs, since they are still admitted and receiving treatment. We are so grateful for every share, donation, and kind word. Thank you for holding all three of them close in your hearts 🤍
