毎日のように飯田橋で乗り換えているのに、この街にきちんと立ち止まって、じっくり目を向ける機会は実はそれほど多くありません。だからこそ、少しだけ歩く速度をゆるめるたびに、飯田橋は東京のなかでも珍しく、いくつもの異なる表情が静かに重なり合っている場所だと感じます。ここは千代田区・文京区・新宿区のちょうど交わるところにあって、一方には皇居に近い千代田区らしい秩序と品のある空気があり、一方には文京区ならではのアカデミックな雰囲気があり、そしてもう一方には神楽坂特有のクラシックで洗練された、少し粋な空気が自然に溶け込んでいます。周辺にはいくつもの名門校が集まっていて、そのこともこの街全体を想像以上に若々しく見せ、静かでありながらどこか流れのある活気を生み出しているように思います。 もちろん、飯田橋はとても便利な街です。JRと複数の地下鉄路線が交わり、大手町、新宿、池袋といった都心の主要エリアへもスムーズにアクセスできます。けれど、私にとって飯田橋が印象に残る理由は、単に「便利だから」だけではありません。駅を出た瞬間に、街のリズムがふっと少しやわらぐような、あの感覚こそがこの街の魅力だと思うのです。外濠沿いを歩いていると、水面や木々の影、そして通り過ぎる列車の音がそっと重なり合い、東京では珍しい、抑制がありながらもどこかゆるやかな空気を感じさせてくれます。そこから神楽坂のほうへ足を向けると、坂道、横丁、石段、小路がまた別の街の表情を少しずつ広げていきます。昔の東京の繊細さ、料亭やレストランにひそむこだわり、そして文化の香りをまとった静かなにぎわいに、ついもう少し歩いてみたくなるのです。 私はいつも、飯田橋のいちばん惹かれるところはまさにそこだと思っています。都心にありながら、人を必要以上に追い立てるような鋭さがないこと。機能的で、便利で、成熟した街でありながら、同時に呼吸する余白や、美意識や、日々の暮らしをもう少し丁寧に整えるための余地を残してくれていること。だからこそ、多くの人にとってここに住むということは、単に通勤のためだけではなく、暮らしそのものを少し上質にしていきたいという思いにもつながっているのだと思います。I pass through Iidabashi almost every day to change trains, and yet I rarely get the chance to truly stop and take in the neighborhood. Maybe that is exactly why, whenever I slow my pace even a little, I find myself feeling that Iidabashi is one of those rare places in Tokyo where several different qualities are quietly layered together. It sits at the intersection of Chiyoda, Bunkyo, and Shinjuku, carrying at once the order and composure that come with Chiyoda’s proximity to the Imperial Palace, the academic atmosphere that has long defined Bunkyo, and the classical, refined, slightly bohemian charm that naturally drifts over from Kagurazaka. The presence of several well-known schools nearby also makes the whole area feel younger than one might expect, giving the neighborhood a sense of quiet but constant vitality. Of course, Iidabashi is extremely convenient. JR lines and several subway lines meet here, and getting to central districts such as Otemachi, Shinjuku, or Ikebukuro is smooth and easy. But for me, what makes Iidabashi memorable has never been convenience alone. What stays with me is that subtle feeling that the rhythm of the city softens the moment I step out of the station. When I walk along the outer moat, the water, the shadows of the trees, and the sound of trains passing by seem to overlap gently, revealing a side of Tokyo that feels unusually restrained and relaxed. Then, turning toward Kagurazaka, the neighborhood begins to unfold in another way through its slopes, alleys, stone steps, and narrow side streets. There is an old Tokyo delicacy there, a sense of care hidden inside its restaurants and traditional dining spaces, and a quiet liveliness touched by culture that always makes me want to keep walking a little farther. I have always felt that this is where Iidabashi is most captivating. Even though it stands right in the heart of the city, it lacks that sharp, exhausting intensity that so often comes with central Tokyo. It is capable, convenient, and mature, yet at the same time it still leaves room to breathe, room for aesthetic sensibility, and room to shape everyday life into something a little better. And perhaps that is why, for many people, living here is not only about commuting with ease. It is also about wanting life itself to feel a little more refined, a little more thoughtful, and a little richer in texture.虽然住在附近每天都会在饭田桥转车，但真正停下来、认真打量这个地方的机会，其实并不多。也正因为如此，每次稍微放慢一点脚步，我都会觉得，饭田桥像是东京少有的、把几种不同气质 quietly 叠放在一起的地方。它站在千代田、文京与新宿三区交汇之处，一边有千代田区那种靠近皇城的秩序与分寸感，一边带着文京区一贯的学院气息，另一边，又自然沾着神乐坂特有的古典、小资与细腻。附近几所名校聚在这里，也让整个街区显得比想象中更年轻，空气里总有一点安静却流动的活力。 饭田桥当然很方便，几条地铁和JR在这里交汇，去大手町、新宿、池袋这些都心方向都很顺。但对我来说，真正让人记住它的，从来都不只是“方便”两个字，而是那种一走出车站，城市节奏就忽然慢下来一点的感觉。沿着外濠散步的时候，水面、树影和列车驶过时留下的声响会轻轻叠在一起，让东京难得显出一种克制又松弛的样子；而转身走向神乐坂，坡道、横丁、石阶与巷弄又把另一种街区表情慢慢铺开，旧东京的细腻、餐厅和料亭里藏着的讲究、还有那种带着文化气息的安静热闹，都让人忍不住想多走一段。 我一直觉得，饭田桥最迷人的地方就在这里。它明明身处都心，却没有那种逼得人太紧的锋利感；它很能干，很方便，很成熟，但同时又给人留出了一点呼吸、一点审美，和一点把日子过得更好的余地。所以对很多人来说，住在这里，可能不只是为了通勤便利，更像是想把生活本身，也过得更有质感一点。#神楽坂 #飯田橋
