I think the ending is happy with a bittersweet undertone. Everyone is happy and living there life’s but eun gyeol still remembers his old life, his time in 1995, and his family before. Knowing he can’t go back to the way they were but he helped his parents in the long run. His mom got a better home life and youth, though he couldn’t keep his dad from, going deaf he still became something big, went to college,and has a career. I believe all eun gyeol ever wanted was people not to look down on his parents and he made it happen.
