@downtoinvest: QQQ vs FTEC vs FXAIX: Make sure you know what you are investing in. Many beginner investors don’t realize what is actually inside of QQQ, FTEC, and FXAIX. Here’s what you need to know: 🔹 QQQ (Invesco Nasdaq-100) - 100 largest non-financial companies on Nasdaq, heavily tech-focused (about 50% tech sector) 🔹 FTEC (Fidelity Tech ETF) - Pure technology sector play with concentrated exposure to tech stocks 🔹 FXAIX (Fidelity S&P 500) - Tracks the S&P 500 with broad market exposure across all sectors Here’s the KEY: QQQ FTEC & FXAIX have significant overlap in tech holdings. If all of them you’re doubling up on a lot of the same big tech names (which is ok if that’s your intention) ✨ FXAIX does give you a bit more diversified exposure across ALL sectors - tech, healthcare, financials, consumer goods, and more. For beginners, understanding these differences helps you build a balanced portfolio without unintentional concentration risk. I use these popular examples because they’re well-known and many people ask about them. This is not a recommendation to buy these ETFs and is not personalized allocation advice. This is for learning purposes only. Consult with a financial professional about your situation. Investing is subject to risk including risk of loss. Genuine question, about to open a ROTH IRA with Fidelity, would 80% into FXAIX & 20% into QQQ be smart?

The overlap is what bothers me. I just can’t figure out. The numbers is a counterproductive to hold Boo and Qqqm

If the marker is doing bad do you wait to start investing or just buy it even if it’s low like the FXAIX

Big fan of FTEC. You can balance it with QQQM but you wind up being extremely heavy in NVDA when combined with VT VTI VOO or most large cap ETFs.
