I was living in Tampa, across from a military base. One day, while walking to a singing practice at an apartment complex very close to mine, just across the street, a car suddenly accelerated toward me. The driver was trying to force me into the car. He got out of the vehicle, and I started running. I ran toward an apartment gate that only opens with a code. I did not live in those apartments, I did not know the code, and there was no one there to open it. What happened next sounds impossible, but the electric gate opened only a small space,just enough for my size,and closed immediately after I entered. At the time, I weighed about 100 pounds, which was small for my body frame. Those gates normally open completely, not just partially. He was left on the other side of the gate. For me, this was a miracle from God.

Trafficking is so low key in Tampa they found over 30 kids at a hotel here no more updates on what happen with the kids nothing!

Went to Whole Foods in Midtown. Parked my car outside, not in the parking garage, and noticed a white utility van parked next to me with a man it. I shop for an hour or so and I am surprised to see the man still sitting in his van when I’m done. As soon as he sees me go to load my groceries in my trunk, he gets out and starts “looking” in the back of his van. I instantly closed my trunk and locked my doors. I calmly walked back into the store to “return my cart” and got an employee to walk me back to my car. The man scurried back into his van and drove off when I came back while being accompanied by someone. Needless to say, if something feels off, it’s better to play it safe than sorry!!!

One thing I’ve learned living in Tampa is to be aware of your surroundings and never fold under pressure. Most importantly don’t show up early and never leave late!

I almost got trafficked in ybor. A woman was crying on the phone in a parking lot of a hotel all alone asking for help. I approached her and realized her suitcase was empty by the way she picked it up and that no one was on the phone. I looked up and realized I was standing right next to a white van with the back door slid open and a man in the drivers seat. I think the only reason they left me alone is bc I was with a larger group of people who were standing a few feet away

They stalk at international. I went one time got followed by two guys on phones I knew they were following me. Followed me into a restaurant I walked out went to another they follow me to that one too. That’s when I knew. I sat outside with the bartender and it was just us- sat away from their view- paid and was on the phone with my mom when I dipped out the side. BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT INTERNATIONAL TOO!!!!

I believe my now husband (boyfriend at the time), my female friend and I were all about to be trafficked after Sunset Music Festival in 2021 (which is in Tampa for those reading). We were not sober, but I was aware enough to know something was NOT right. A middle aged man approached us while we were waiting for an uber and began to ask us weird and inappropriate questions. I kept clocking him randomly making eye contract with strangers that would walk by and nod or wink at each other. He proceeded to tell us that we don’t need an uber, that we would be getting in his car. I said “absolutely not” and he started franticly looking around for a car approaching, and said “oh yes you will be” and the three of us ran. We ran and hid behind some trees and put t-shirts we had all purchased on, to help us be less identifiable if someone they knew was looking for us. Luckily we did not see him again and we made it safely back home, but I am 100% convinced if we had not run, I would not be here typing out this story. If your gut is telling you something is wrong, it usually is. Stay vigilant everyone. 💕
