While this is indeed really repairable, they could have just exposed that port to make it even easier. The docks I have all just have a place where I can plug in a cable.

For anyone attempting to do this, make sure you have a cable that has a high enough Gbps on it (and can fit of course). For my docking station its 20 Gbps. Not sure how much these cables carry.

Thats an insanely rare HP W for a change, holy cow. Thanks for sharing. I've got 2 of these with weird connectivity issues, I wonder if I can just swap the cable and test. I'm used to docks just being completely unrepairable by most conventional means
