I like the idea of you pushing this forward. Here's a counter: Include the regulatory conditions for the companies the sell outside the US. Update the knowledge here, and the consumer will ultimately make up their own mind. DOT hasn't been a high enough standard since it came out, honestly.

If it doesn’t have ECE 22 06 I’m not putting it on my head. A steel pot could get a DOT rating as long as it has a chin strap.

That is why I ordered one of my helmets from Europe, the American version, of that specific helmet, is only DOT rated but Europe version is ECE rated. And yes it is a different foam inside.

I only wear snell certified and unexpired helmets. but I grew up drag racing and it was required then so I require it personally now

Thank you for sharing these details- many people don’t have this knowledge and think that the DOT sticker makes them good regardless of what is in that helmet. Also if you do get in an accident get your insurance company to replace with a like helmet!!!

I wear a bell Moto-9S, it’s one of the very few Snell approved motocross helmets and I took a direct hit from a bike in a crash with it hard enough to crack the helmet and I didn’t receive any head injuries.
