This movie was such an allegory for how violent assault changes someone, but people miss the whole point. Jennifer’s new behavior was representative of how people become “troubled”, mean, flippant, overly sexual, and miserable after facing these things, often taking advantage of others to maintain their own sense of control. Obviously in the story she houses a demon, but in real life people pick up metaphorical demons. Jennifer didn’t become a ‘girl boss’, we as an audience were supposed to see her fear and desperation under the guise.

Something I really like about this movie is that it obviously has a very deep meaning about sa and how it changes people, but at the same time its one of those deep movies that you can still kinda turn your brain off while watching for a moment because of how it was made.

Nothing more heartbreaking to me than the parallel between where Needy looks at Jen in the van and how she looks at her when they’re falling on the bed. Both harbor such an intense realization that the person she loved more than anything was gone.
