i hate being the center of attention so opening gifts for an extended amount of time in front of people is a yikes from me. i’d much rather spend quality time with family & friends. if someone wants to see my open their gift, im more than happy to do that one-on-one with them! but if my comfort/wants offends someone then they probably don’t need to be in mine or my child’s lives 🙃

People want to see you open the gifts they put the time and effort into getting for you. I know opening presents can be awkward but for mine we’re going to play bingo and do games in-between to make it more fun and engaging for everyone.

as a guest i LOVE watching people open their gifts! as the gift opener however, i feel awkward and hate opening gifts in front of people because i don’t know how to react.

i personally don’t care 🤷🏼♀️i like to see other people open gifts and i like to open them too, baby showers have been going on for generations and now people suddenly have an issue with it but in reality its only weird if you make it weird

I had two spots for gifts labeled “open now” “open later”. I only opened the gifts for the people who wanted me to and the others o opened on my own. It’s was great only a few people wanted me to open them.

I put so much intention in my gifts I love watching them open! But if it’s small and intimate I will open gifts if it’s a big party we don’t unless someone asks.

Easy compromise, gifts come unwrapped. They can be displayed and when you greet the person coming in they can see you react and get to be thanked in-person, but takes a lot less time/attention than sitting down and doing the one-by-one unwrapping in front of everyone!

I know it’s tradition to some. However, I opted out. I did a gift table and set it far away lol from us. Just let everyone vibe amongst themselves and when it was over just had the men put it in the car. 😆 I feel shy or embarrassed to have to do that in front of everyone.

I think it waste so much time and we only have a limited time already. And we have friends and family from out of town I want to talk to and hangout with. We are going to try and open some as people come in, so they can see us open their gifts. And then we can leave them out so people can see other stuff we got. Kind of a mix but I want to enjoy the party and not be stuck opening gifts half of the time.

I’m gonna do separate areas for gifts that don’t have to be opened (off registry or diapers) or gifts someone may want opened there (like special handmade blankets or something)

Both my baby showers weren’t local, so everyone was instructed to send gifts to our home. Opening gifts is so weird also! It’s not show and tell bc everyone can see what has been purchased in the registry. I also did want to spend the max time with everyone as well.

I informed my guests that I didn’t want to open gifts unless the person gifted it wanted me to. Besides, most of my gifts were from my Amazon Registry and I received most items straight to my house.
