Lee Gap-ryong entered Maisan Mountain at the age of 25, and the times were turbulent, including the Imo Military Rebellion and the execution of Jeon Bong-jun. He lamented the dark world and began building a tower through prayer with the sole intention of saving the people. These towers are named Cheonji Tower, Five Directions Tower, Moonlight Tower, Sunlight Tower, Medicine Tower, Central Tower, Moon Palace Tower, Yonggung Tower, and Kidney Tower, and each tower is said to have its own meaning and role. It is said that he was consistent in devotion and prayer until he passed away at the age of 98. The height of the towers, which are not made of polished stone but made of natural stones, range from 1m to 13.5m. Stone pagodas are mostly straight and conical in shape and come in various sizes. The pair of Cheonji Towers behind the main hall are the largest, and are about three times the height of an adult.
