@cookwithhali: Soft Braided Challah Bread Ingredients • 1 tsp yeast • 1 tbsp sugar • 3 tbsp oil • 1 egg • 1 tsp salt • 400 g flour • 200 g water ⸻ Instructions 1. In a bowl, add everything at once. Just don’t put the salt directly on the yeast — add it on top of the flour. Mix by hand until combined, cover, and let rise 1½ hours until doubled. 2. Lightly oil your surface, divide into 6 pieces, flatten, roll into ropes, and braid by crossing side to side and bringing each strand to the center (as shown in the video). 3. Cover with lightly oiled plastic wrap and rest 30 minutes. 4. Brush with egg yolk mixed with a little water + a pinch of Nescafé. 5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake about 25 minutes, until golden. Let cool before slicing. ⸻ #bread #challah #baking #breadtok #homemadebread

This is a Swiss specialty. It is called Zopf. In Switzerland, there is even a special type of flour for it called Zopf flour.

it’s very common to find out in Germany and it’s so delicious. The thing is that it’s so popular that everyone wants one and there’s almost nothing left.
