@RobinSFCA All good stuff as a 30 year local. Akiko’s is the best, but it is some serious $$$$ so peeps be warned. If you are in that area and want all the fancy, really like the locals for only $$$, I recommend Angler or Waterbar both are on the Embarcadero have great happy hours at the bar or the patio on the water looking out over the bridge. Akiko’s is likely my fav, if you want to mini splurge, you will not regret, Robin on Gough. Not only a cool name 😎 🐦, it has a super reasonable omakase, that is unique and there is a $109 omakase also a saki paring that they were kind enough to split for $85 last I was there. If you really want to eat sushi like a local try Zushi Puzzle on Lombard and get the Omakase from Roger at the bar. You don’t have to ask for Roger. It will be Roger and get there before he retires. It’s casual but like eating in Roger’s kitchen with friends you don’t yet know. And finally, if you want nice but more of a Tuesday budget, I’d try Ace Wasabi’s in the Marina, I even think they have Sushi Bingo on Tuesday I think 6:30? Look it up 👀. Also don’t leave without going up and down the coast- don’t miss gray whale Cove, Rodeo Beach the Marin Headlands, Tiburon or a drive up to the Redwoods or Point Reyes stoping off for Oysters at the Marshall store. You will need at least a week.
