They have to stop with those horrible eggs. They can keep it simple, pancakes/waffles, real eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, fruit.

there's a degree of validity to "you get what you pay for" in general (if youre at a cheap hotel youre gonna get cheap food) but there's also a floor to how shit something can be before I start feeling like I paid too much for this even if it were free

I work as a tour director, so I'll be in about 7-10 hotels in a month and after covid continental breakfast has become literally inedible.

I think people forget free and complimentary are not the same thing. Also at some point you’re better off not offering it if it’s atrocious

And then they got the audacity to put up a sign all "one plate per guest, do not take plates to your room"

continental breakfast is one of my deciding factors for what hotel I'm booking. if I get there at 8am expecting to get full from the breakfast I paid for and it's overcooked boiled/powder eggs, stale bread, and grey sausage I've been ripped off! at that point I should have just paid $30 more for an embassy suites!

and I'm not expecting gourmet. I'm fine with McDonald's quality. but it's hard enough finding anywhere that even serves complimentary breakfast at all anymore.

Continental breakfast should at least have that waffle machine and a toaster for the bread.
If it's only some individually wrapped pastries and some bananas that should have been made into bread a week ago, I absolutely feel ripped off

I’ve spent over a decade working in hotel hospitality. It’s true. Nobody’s getting a free breakfast. It certainly is factored into the cost of the room. I’ve also worked as the food and beverage manager of a hotel, and we would risk failing an audit for not adhering to brand standards if we stray from the food items they required. This is why I always kept packages of the exact frozen items they required me to serve just in case they showed up for a brand inspection while regularly serving higher quality options whenever possible.

It’s not free, but even if it was, there should be some nuance. They’re saying “NO” complaining is allowed? Like at all? What if some pees in the coffee machine? There’s gotta be a line where we agree that “yeah this is a valid complaint”.

In my (admittedly limited) experience Comfort Suites has a bomb Continental breakfast. Two flavors of waffle batter (one regular, one that changes daily) meat, potatoes, eggs that may be powdered but are at least the high dollar powdered, and a pile of other stuff. Maybe it's because the ones I've stayed at have been in hyper touristy areas where there's a lot of competition but they've been consistent so far.

maybe it’s just nostalgic for me but i love the cereal dispensers, costco bagels/pastries, yogurts 1 day from expiring, fruit bowl. anything hot offered still feels extra nice to me even if it’s just the powdered eggs and waffle maker 😂 When one hotel i stayed at even had vegetarian sausage as an option i was completely wowed

It’s included not free. If you have to bogo it’s discounted. Free means no cost, not no additional cost. They use this language to justify subpar service and products.
