Are we forgetting about China? Egypt? We think they advanced because it’s highlighted for us in colonialism.

It’s just about timing. A thousand years ago power structure was very different. Arabs were the strongest. Then it switched to Europe, now it’s undoubtedly switching to Asia. Everyone has their times come and go.

It started with the renaissance when europeans starting in Italy became more business friendly, traded more , generated more wealth and that wealth allowed tech advancement in banking , art and science and set the foundation and of course the oligarchy republics were a foundation for more democratic meritocratic societies and after that global trade pioneered most brilliantly by the Dutch and later english , before them exploration of the Spanish and Portuguese and all this led to enough wealth that the industrial revolution kicked off in Great Britain. Above all europe had very good agricultural land and resources and a temperate climate and that with happenstance of trading leading to exploration generating wealth created a more advanced society that the USA built upon in the 20th and 21 century

those things are true, at the same time China, the islamic world & India was quite close to an industrial revolution before / at the same time as Europe, what stopped the other three from industrialize was; bad supply of Coal close to major population & Manufacturing centers, cheap labor (mechanization less profitable), didnt develop things like patent laws, joint-stock companies, Capital Markets, which encourages innovation and the spread of technology, Europe developed experimental science Scientific societies (largely thanks to hermeticism), while the other three mostly focused on artisan-based or elite scholarship that doesnt promote innovation that well. for anyone still reading this, thank you

Simply say war.Unlike other places we had multiple wars in eu at once, between us and invaders, that led to advancements.Just as an ex the internet was created as a weapon, then it went globally, and evem now its still used to control
