It’s ridiculous…. So you are judging their voice off of a song where they are emulating someone else? Even if they “make it their own” the arrangement was already given to them. Originals were created by them.

Eh, I somewhat disagree. I think on shows like this, it’s better to sing covers at first to draw people in. But there’s nothing wrong with originals every now and then once people know you and are invested in your story and journey.
