I am so happy that my parents paid for my wedding and the only stipulation is my mom wanted a venue that would handle everything. Food, cake, flowers, clean up, set up they handled it all. Which was nice because she ended up going through chemo so it was nice that we didn't have to worry about those small details.

Normalise not opening the door when people just turn up to your house. I live 8000 kilometers away so my mom isn't just gonna show up... but if she did? It'd be a long journey back home when I don't open the door. 😂

My MIL was like this on the odd occasion she would baby sit the kids. The amount of stress an hassle we endured in exchange for this HUGE favour she was doing for us, meant it was easier to just NOT bother asking for any favours - ever..... quite sad really.

My in laws told us they would give us $5000 to get married, we decided to do a courthouse wedding instead and then they’re like JK we will give you half because you didn’t do things the way we wanted 🤣. I’ve had to tell my husband just because people are your parents or family doesn’t mean they’re good people or have your best interests, better to just let everyone keep their money!
