My Grandma was born in 1923 and grew up in an old Georgian house here in the UK 🇬🇧. Electricity didn’t come in full to her home until the 1950s. She told me they regularly used tallow candles and during the war they ate tallow melted on bread when desperate due to rationing. Tallow was made largely of animal fat from sheep and I was told it tasted nice.
