I wept bitterly on this montage. I somehow pitied him, was mad at him, envied him and then realized we are all him.

my main takeaway from this movie really is just, whether or not you think you lived a full life, if you were kind to people and the world around you, then you lived as full a life as you needed to.

This film absolutely broke me 😫. Such a raw film but so true in how life can be so cruel.

This is probably one of the most honest and heartrending looks at grief and loss and isolation and resiliency I’ve ever seen

After the first twenty minutes of this movie, I’m like when is this going to pick up. I stuck through the whole thing, and so damn glad I did.

Lake Emerson and Palmer :
When he had fallen on harder financial times the narrator said something along the lines of “although he didn’t know it then, these would be the happiest days of his life” I unexpectedly found myself holding tears back in the middle of the day in my living room. I wasn’t expecting to connect to the movie like that.

I definitely missed the deeper meaning of this movie, it was visually beautiful but I thought it was just a slow movie about a man’s life that was full of grief

Detective Fox :
“Train Dreams” plays like a quiet memory rather than a conventional drama. It’s built on stillness, small gestures, and the emotional weight of ordinary existence, not on spectacle or narrative twists. The landscapes and light do as much storytelling as the dialogue, giving the film a hushed, almost contemplative tone. It asks for patience, but rewards it with a sense of calm and subtle resonance. I expand on its themes and impact in my full review on my profile.
