I am so so sorry they did this to you - there is a special place in hell for people who allow others to wallow in pain - especially when you go to them for help! I pray you are better now - and putting this terrible experience in your rear view mirror. ❤️

over the last 4 years consistently hospitals have been doing this to people in the us... its disturbing and shows we pay them FAR TOO MUCH for them not to care at all.

Normalize getting an attorney on retainer and suing a hospital/ER for not controlling pain! The medical community push back on treatment of pain is based on money. They should be held accountable for all of the pain and suffering they cause!

I was admitted a few months ago for a pseudo seizure and I was in severe pain from a spinal injury. They wouldn’t prescribe me anything and wouldn’t let me take my meds from home. I laid in agony where the physician kept telling the nurse to tell me Ibuprofen or nothing. I cannot have NSAIDS due to a stomach issue, I was told by gastro never to take them ever again…I begged to just be sent home.

My C5 client was denied pain meds to control autonomic dysreflexia and spasms so as to get through the ER CT scan and told he could only have them after, with the implication he was "drug seeking". I filed complaints on his behalf with the ER doctor's practice (they're subbed to the hospital), the hospital, and state board. Also, request your records (NOT the discharge notes) to see what they're putting in there.

When I was admitted to hospital, one of the tests they did angered some ongoing severe pelvic pain I get (cause unknown). They would not give me my prescribed medication for it. It was torture. I was in so much pain I struggled to get enough words out to explain to the nurses, it was obvious as hell I was in serious pain, and they give me ONE cocodamol 8. I still can’t believe it.

You realize hospital can not hold you against your will right ? Unless you’re on a psych hold. You could have simply just discharged against ama and went to another hospital.

I had one doctor try to admit me for pain mgmt for peritonitis… related to colitis and said no because while he was kind the floor might not be 😔Im so sorry!

I have one of the seemingly rare where gabapentin is effective, but it’s severe enough where I am taking a very high dose. It is a type of nerve damage in the spine where it is worth the long term risks. My family knows to never take me to a hospital out of our system because my pain management specialist would raise hell if anyone touched his pain regimen, but we know he’d do this by phone or zoom across the country if necessary 😭 I am so grateful for him and I wish everyone had doctors that advocated that passionately for them. I’m so sorry you went through this.

As an RN, tell them you want it put in your chart that you requested medications/home medications for pain and was denied. That way if you were to sue, there will be documentation.

My little sister has had CRPS since she was 8. I’m so so sorry people cannot begin to fathom the agony you’re in. You should’ve been given help, not tortured.

I don't have your condition I have a spinal injury and my pain meds are constantly messed with. I am beyond sorry this happened. make a plan with someone trusted. make sure they know what you need from the docs. if this plan isn't adhered too make sure they have the number for a medical lawyer 🫂

I have SLE lupus since 17 and severe heart failure with a left bundle branch block, risk for SCD due to afib at 27, I’m sorry. I can’t understand what you’re going through or your disease. I’ve had near death experiences with asthma attacks where I couldn’t walk or talk when I was a kid. Just had heart surgery for a BIV ICD. It’s not easy but you’re not alone in this suffering

As a nurse I am so sorry you were treated that way. One of my favorite patients has CRPS and she’s one of the toughest kids I know. I hate seeing her suffer am I’m sorry you suffer.

I’m sorry. I have CRPS too, and I am always scared of the doctors. Just had surgery and woke up in so much pain that an other patient who just woke up from surgery started advocating on my behalf. It’s tough with doctors, and there are no words to make it better. It’s just not fair
