@carolgtheot: The majors I would recommend if you already know you want to go into occupational therapy and you want to try to cover as many pre requisite classes required for OT school while doing you’re undergraduate, these are some of the ones I would recommend: 1️⃣ Health Sciences / Pre-Health ✔ Covers most prereqs ✔ Very OT-school friendly 2️⃣ Kinesiology / Exercise Science ✔ Anatomy & physiology ✔ Motor control and biomechanics ✔ Very relevant to OT 3️⃣ Psychology ✔ Intro psych ✔ Abnormal psych ✔ Developmental psych ✔ Stats 4️⃣ Human Development / Child Development ✔ Lifespan development ✔ Disability and family systems ✔ Add science courses as needed 5️⃣ Biology or Neuroscience ✔ Biology + labs ✔ Looks great for OT programs ⚠️ You’ll need to add psychology courses #occupationaltherapytiktok #occupationaltherapystudent #occupationaltherapy #ot #occupationaltherapist
If i want to specialize in pediatric occupational therapy would a special education degree be ok if i do the pre reqs?

Would you recommend majoring in public health as someone who wants to do OT long term?

Hey! my name is Jaletta, I’m a high school senior in Michigan. I chose ota/ot as my major I just got admitted to Macomb Community College for ota and I’m gonna start my preliminary courses soon. After my two years I’m gonna transfer to a university (Wayne state,or Oakland university) and do basically 5-6 years there to become and OT is there any advice you could give me?

Thinking about making a career transition. I’m a special education teacher with a minor in psychology. All of my psych prerequisites are done but I need more sciences. Any advice for a later in life OT?

In my opinion and just my opinion… My students that have an exercise physiology major do much better in anatomy and phys dys. My major was psychology, which I also feel like is a great foundation, but still doesn’t lack that anatomy focus even with pre-reps.

I am working on getting my Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant so I have an OT background and I have a backup in case I don’t want to go to graduate school!

Is kinesiology comparable to physiology? Bachelors of physiology is all that’s available at my college.

i currently work as a Flexologist at stretchlab and i’m getting an internship this summer with them as well, i’m also going to be doing observation hours in the summer under a PT or an OT if i can find one nearby, i have great ppl for letters or rec but my gen ed classes made my gpa drop. i know gpa is a really big indicator to get into grad school but is it still possible to make it as an OT despite that?
