I believe black history month celebrates BLACK history. As someone who ACTUALLY studies black history, it all overlaps and ties with one another. The history is wayy too complex for you to say only Black Americans should be celebrating.

Black History Month isn’t just for Black Americans , it’s for ALL Black people, period. Slavery didn’t start in America, it started in Africa. Our ancestors were captured, sold, and forced into bondage, and their resistance and survival shaped the freedom Black Americans enjoy today. Africans literally laid the foundation of Black history, culture, and resilience. Telling Africans they shouldn’t celebrate because the diaspora experienced slavery in America is not only disrespectful, it erases where it all began. Black history is collective .it’s about honoring the struggle, the survival, and the brilliance of Black people everywhere 🌍✊🏾. Black History Month = all Black people. Slavery started in Africa, sis. I think it’s kinda weird how much black Americans don’t wanna be associated with black Africans, not only in this context but I’ve seen it in so many other contexts too. Maybe it’s just internalized racism, they try to separate the two so much it looks like hate.
