You snorkel or scuba dive around Mnemba Island in crystal-clear water, visit sandbanks nearby, and usually spot dolphins along the way. Absolutely worth it. 2️⃣ Nakupenda Sandbank & Prison Island Nakupenda Sandbank is a must. Soft white sand, turquoise water, swimming, relaxing, and fresh fruit on the sandbank. We had Prison Island planned too, but after a hospital visit we missed it — still, Nakupenda alone is 100% worth going for. 3️⃣ Nungwi Beach By far the best beach I saw in Zanzibar. The water is beautiful, the sand is soft, and most importantly, you can swim here all day without worrying about tides. I’d highly recommend staying in this area. 4️⃣ Starfish Beach (Michamwi Pingwe) One of the most unique spots in Zanzibar, with hundreds of starfish in different colors in clear shallow water. Best visited as part of a tour on the southeast side of the island. 5️⃣ Chuini Beach Resort We stayed here for one night and I honestly wish we stayed longer. Stunning views, the kindest staff, and such a peaceful atmosphere. Watching locals play football on the beach made it feel very real and special. 6️⃣ The Rock Restaurant One of Zanzibar’s most iconic spots, sitting on a rock in the ocean. It’s usually included as a stop on tours in the Michamwi area and is worth visiting at least once for the setting alone. 7️⃣ Swimming with Horses A very Instagrammable experience, but I’d recommend the sunset beach walk over the swim itself. It’s calmer, more enjoyable, and lets you actually take in the views. 8️⃣ Stone Town Worth visiting to see a different side of Zanzibar.
