My advice is to fill your job with love - there is room for love in the corporate world. As a city lawyer in London, I work for a firm where love is very real and it is weaved into the culture. Why do we feel we have to rule it out

Thank you for this. I’m currently in golden handcuffs in a senior role and been debating the future. Poorer health since being with this company and your video has just come at the right time. I don’t believe in fate much but I’ll take it this time ❤

There is a really high percentage of people dying within 6 months after retiring who led high performing careers

I almost drop dead at 37 because of work related stress that cause gallstones, pancreatitis, and liver tumours 😅 I quit that job for a better one, not knowing how sick I was until I was hospitalised, literally hours away from dying.

I worked with a guy for 3 years - he absolutely hated his job. He submitted annual leave for 4 weeks and 1 day before he was due to go on holiday he also dropped dead from a heart attack.

I was 31 and brand-new to a company (new career, too). In a staff mtg, they held a moment of silence & reflection for a staff member who went on medical leave and passed away. It was a nice reflection on how she impacted everyone. At the end of it, the director said "yeah and so if you know anyone who is looking for a job ...". And that was my ah ha! moment

Ex mid level exec (retired) - I realised early on that we are all just numbers on a spreadsheet. Interchangeable and disposable.

In one job I was working so hard I collapsed at my cube around 3am. There was some outage and no one could reach me. Someone realized I was in the office , drove there and found me on the floor. Thankfully it was just pure exhaustion. My manager then wrote me up for not answering a call during a customer outage. I got myself a new job and quit a couple of months later

If he felt that way, and had made enough, had good investments, could retire, nothing wrong with steppig away and deciding to become involved in a different way. In his case, even easier, it wasn't even his company so he could have walked. his body sent him the signals.

I've worked for a big corporate for the last 4 yrs. I can see it. The corporate entity hates when you point it out too.

My colleague inherited money when his dad passed. He used it to buy out of his contract to take a different job. Everyone was impressed.
