When Trump was doing his Latinos for Trump rallies, his signs said “Latinos Para Trump” which literally translates to Latinos for Trump to use. If, or anyone in his circle cared about Latinos someone would have told him to use “Latinos Por Trump” meaning Latinos supporting Trump. Grammar aside he used the one he really meant.

I think of por as "because" and it helps me. If I can put because in the sentence, even though the grammar isn't correct, but it makes sense, then it's por not para.

My high school Spanish teacher told us to think of para as "in order to". if that doesn't make your sentence make sense, then use por. This made it even more clear.
