@africachronicleshlch: The instrument maker and musician ‘Irisipau is filmed playing in the Solomon Islands in a documentary titled Shaping Bamboo, made by Hugo Zemp in 1977. For the ‘Are’are people of the Solomon Islands, the most highly valued music is that of the four types of Pan flute ensembles. With the exception of slit drums, most musical instruments are made from bamboo and for this reason, the same word“bamboo” (‘au), is commonly used to refer both to the instruments and to the music they produce. #BambooInstrument #WorldMusic #SolomonIslands #MusicalInstruments #AfricaChroniclesHLCH
