I was the same as Troy too. The divorce was the best thing that she did for both me and herself, though I didn’t see it then. It forced me to grow up and wake up. Leaving can be the most helpful thing to do for someone.

I think what has surprised me the most working with men from a clinical perspective is how much of this they're aware of. We (cis women) are so socialized to question it/assume positive intent and it is so rare that our assumptions are actually true.
