I was 16 and in a mother and baby foster placement already.. the social worker and her manager came over for a meeting.. the social worker left the room and the manager gave me a piece of paper saying” it’s just a form for extra support for myself and baby” I didn’t think twice and just signed it. The next day.. my family solicitors called me informing me I signed over my rights to social services- I replied saying no- I signed the form for extra support: Within 48 hours.. my solicitors had the social services legal department retract the section 20 as it was done in a pre-planned,sneaky illegitimate way..

They lie saying it's temporary but it's not they took your parental responsibility and make thousands of pounds with them and never tell you where they are and who they're with

just to add not signing as well could lead to the case being escalated to court by local authority and the children being removed from parents care. Seek legal advice but sometimes signing section 20 may be better off. The situation is based on case by case.This can be a very hard difficult decision.

I was told by CS to sign a section 20, my solicitor said it’s the best thing to do. I’m still fighting to get my daughter home 3 & half years later, she’s currently with her half brother & his family. Things haven’t been easy with them either.

Am not a social worker, however, Social services can’t just take children away because a parent signs Section 20. They still have to complete an assessment and follow the proper legal process. That’s why I’m asking: if a parent gets legal advice first, and even their solicitor agrees the children are unsafe, would the solicitor really tell them not to sign it?
