@grahamcweaver: If hard work caused burnout, working on the things you love most would drain you. Working hard towards something you’re excited about usually actually gives you energy. Burnout shows up when your efforts are pointed in the wrong direction, towards goals and values misaligned with your own. Where are you out of alignment? #mindset #habits #goals #career #worklife
Disagree, I know multiple people burnt out doing something they loved.

burnout isn't a personal failure. it's what happens when what you're doing stops matching who you are 🙏

This perspective is a game-changer. Most freelancers burn out because they’re trying to work hard and manage a chaotic workflow simultaneously. It’s rarely the hard work that breaks you—it’s the mental tax of trying to hold every detail in your head. When I realized that, I shifted my focus from just 'working harder' to building an operating system for my business. Once the system handles the admin and organization, you finally have the bandwidth to do the actual, meaningful work without the exhaustion. Systems don't just organize tasks; they save your career."

Burnout comes from sustained load without recovery.
Hard work isn’t the issue—chronic activation without downshift is.

You’re not lazy.
You’re in survival mode.
And survival is not a life.
If this hurts — that’s the point

You just told my story. Thought I should move up the ladder and became miserable trapped in an office versus being front line amongst the people.

Even if you’re excited about it and love what you’re doing you can experience burnout if you let it consume you and take over your life.

I agree, I'd work hours with what I think gives me meaning. The hard work at that point means nothing

For me, it was a consistent rejection. Sending thousands of resumes and applying for hundreds of small business grants, just to be told "no" dozens of times each week.

I’m sorry but i gotta disagree here. I do believe there is some truth to what you’re saying but most therapists i know do their job because its meaningful and purposeful. Our field carries incredibly high rates of burnout so much so that people don’t even make it to their professional license. Part of it has to do with a lack of internal reward that comes from progression and impact which I believe lines up with what you’re saying. When the work put in doesn’t match internal and external rewards we run into problems
