@bestbarkingbehaviour: My head every time

Kelpie :

I understand why cheap bleached raw hide is bad, but what’s wrong with dried animal skin in general? Like, not processed one, just dried?

Nerddumpling 🚦 :

Not dogs but when people say outdoor cats are fine because theirs lived until 15, hate it so much

Sakura rawr :

Neither of my dogs has rawhide but I did not realize how horrid it was for dogs until a year ago. Everyone I spoke to in pet shops glamourized it until I saw one post about it that sent me down a rabbit hole of how horrific it really is

✨🌙 :

survivors bias is just the worst because so many people live by it instead of listening to anyone else

…Royalblood<3 :

A lot of vets say dont give dogs anything hard for multiple reasons- a good rule of thumb is if you cant dent it with your nail dont give it. It will be too hard and possibly break teeth. Rawhide gets gummy and can block airways/really hard to digest.

Eska133 :

rawhide bleached skin which normally is used to make handbags this product not only obstruct guts but is hard to pass through. So why ppl give this to their pets. Fact that is still not banned in regular sale is beyond my understanding

SleepyBear :

I mean you could have put context in the caption but

OhKaycoolthanks :

I’m thankful I was educated with my pup, and she’s 1 1/2 and never had rawhide and never will!

Emily :

I don't know why pet shops are even allowed to sell it, we didn't realise it was bad at all until I saw on tiktok 😳

Rachel MacDonald :

My dog was having chicken twist treats that were his absolute favourite until I realised they had rawhide in them. He has been absolutely fine eating them the last year and a half so I’m in two minds of do I stop giving them to him or just continue cause he is fine

J🪿 :

My 2 dogs ate kibbles and bites one lived to 19 and my other baby is still going strong 🤷‍♂️

Kasey 😘 :

my childhood dog was one of those dogs 🫣🤣 he lived untill he was 18, when I got my dog I had to tell my mum not to buy rawhide treats for him and she was so confused 😂😂😂

scorpioxvirgo8 :

pet stores don't care about animals! just because it's sold there doesn't mean it's safe for pets

💕 :

Me when my gfs nan tells us how they gave their dog his tablets in a quality street and he used to walk himself round the estate 😂😂

Top Tier Cake's :

bit like years ago when seat belts weren't the law and people drove around and were fine! having never been in an accident. and babies in carriers placed on the dash of the car, they were FINEEEE

Rubadubdub😛 :

My dog lived until 17… he was a mixed breed who would only drink water from muddy puddles. But rawhide was a big no, his fave was reindeer hooves anyway

APeezy88 :

Bigger Batman :

A beef cheek roll is like 3 bucks bro rawhide CANNOT be worth it

angel 😀 :

wait i've been giving my german shepherd rawhide for about 3 months now and was under the impression it was great for dogs. what's wrong with it ?

jensen.0401 :

My previous dog was given rawhide a lot (it wasnt as commonly known as dangerous) but our current dog has never touched rawhide and he is living a perfectly okay life without them. He gets a variety of different chews like pig feet, cow hooves, horns, tendons, bully sticks, etc. Im sure they taste better to him

Sidpups :

I had no idea how bad rawhide was until I joined tik tok! (Disclaimer - I only give owner-approved treats and I’ve never bought rawhide)

Danielle Lee :

Our old dog lived till nearly 16, and we unfortunately did give her rawhide all her life. But our 2 current dogs have never had it as we have listened to everything.
