@chrispathway: Here are 5 mistakes I made during my first internship so you can avoid them: 1. I was too scared to ask questions. I'd spend 2 hours stuck instead of asking for 5 minutes of help. Nobody expects you to know everything but people expect you to learn fast. 2. I didn't take notes. Thought I'd remember. I didn't. Now I write everything down immediately. 3. I waited for tasks instead of looking for them. Be active and ask if you can help with something else when you’re finished. 4. I didn't build relationships outside my team. Random coffee chats and lunches with people outside of your team is where some of the best connections are formed. 5. I tried to impress instead of learn. Showing off what you know matters less than showing you can grow. Everybody feels like an imposter at first (even at my fifth internship), it’s just about pushing through and showing your best side.
