I’m a former dg store manager and they were most definitely taken down because of theft. I would review my cctv daily and see multiple people only sliding dollar items and not the rest of their cart.. so everyone can blame the ones who don’t pay. We lost thousands per week because of self checkout.

It's the same where I live.You have to ring the bell to get the one employee to come to the check out and that can that take awhile.
