i actually loved this because 1- aang wasn't perfect. 2- he didn't have parents so it makes sense that he's a bad father. 3- being a bad father doesn't mean the person was horrible or that they did it on purpose, it just means they were a bad father

These edits make me realize that Bumi becoming an airbender was probably really hard for him because at the end of the day Tenzin had special time with Aang, Kya had special time with Katara, and when he got his bending his dad was already gone, he probably felt like there was no point for awhile but also put on his goofy personality to hide it.

Bumi was fully ready to hold that responsibility if he was an air bender. I fully believe Sokka took Bumi under his wing, teaching him how to be strong without bending. Bumi is so much like sokka.

the thing is that Aang a 100% did love all 3 of them equally, he just spent more time with Tenzin because he wanted to hammer all the Air nomad culture and traditions into him

Aang probably loved the three of them equally, but didint treat them like that, he put the burden of the airbender into one kid and overlooked the other two, Bumi specially, he wasnt a bender at all, so even if Aang didint expend time with Kya, Katara for sure taught her everything she knows abput water bending. That doesnt mean he was a bad person, in the end he was an orphan raised by monks, just wasnt made to be a father. I always loved they included those aspects in Korra, cause it clearly shows you that he wasnt perfect even tho he was the Avatar.

Aang being not a perfect father was honestly a really smart move. It was a reminder that even the chosen one hero character was indeed still a flawed human being. Just like the rest of us.

aang and toph were horrible parents because of their upbringing which makes sense but zuko was a good parent bc of how his dad treated him and how iroh was his father figure

"katara didn't do anything about aang's fathership" PLEASE PEOPLE TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME. katara could've been a good mom and tried to do something about it but this is the thing about complicated family relationships!!! Aang could be a bad father while Katara was a loving mom. not everything hinges around ONE fact 💀💀 notice how they only had resentment against Aang's treatment of them and not katara??

People forget that Aang is literally the first air bender to be a real “parent” too. He was raised by several people at once so he probably figured it was fine other people helped raise his too

The writers decision to give airbending abilities to non-benders to restore balance in the world was such a brilliant move in the series. It really shows that the world will always find a way to right itself again.
