I have attempted it. It was NOT an easy hike and upon arriving, the land owners were swimming and they told us to leave. Total bummer.

@gavinhikes the purple house is ours and while we welcome the hikers, and even have befriended a few as well, all it takes is one bad group to ruin it for everyone else. We returned home one day and found a truck parked on our property that belonged to some college kids from Houston. I was even more annoyed to see the oil leak his truck left after they finally drove off. Also, there is no Uber in Wimberley or one that is willing to come out that far.

we did this last April. I posted a couple videos about it. they cut the valve stems off our tires - which were not parked on Valley View Rd. they did come out and threaten us once during the hike, and they also threatened us during the walk back to the cars and tried to run us over. 🤘🏻 this hike is metal for sure. and worth it. I'm going again soon.

Got myself a lovely trespassing violation there, and it’s in hays county so the sheriff was not happy about driving so far me and my friend 😁 stay clear of the church!

THIS PLACE IS ALL PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY SO YOU MUST ENTER BY RIVER WHICH IS VERY DRY AND PRETTY MUCH NON TRAVERSABLE BECAUSE ITS DRY. Also, be careful as property owners are pretty trigger happy and protective of property rights.

I’ve never seen such a detailed video on this place. I hate how folks act like no one should go because it’s surrounded by private property. Anyone who is respectful should be allowed to enjoy it. One day I’ll make the hike.

This is a 12 mile round trip btw. There’s no public access whatsoever. You will hike through water and dry river

The difficulty of the hike preserves the space, except some of the land owners don’t treat it well (despite their claims). Transportation is the hardest part, but an amazing hike for sure!

It’s drought, better when it rains. Here is best run down. Call State Game Warden before you trek(it’s a trek, not hike). Give them schedule. We did it, made it an overnight camping in River bed. Watch weather for now flash floods. Have someone drop off and pick up. Place is amazing when water is good. Some landowners are asshats. State law and move on. The state is on your side. Not a journey for people who don’t trek or super expert hiker. Clean your trash.

Just stay in the water and you’ll be fine, no land owners have no authority over any bodies of water unless it’s a personal pond. Rivers, creeks, lakes, etc is all public land owned by the state. They can lie but just don’t listen and you’ll be chilling

I did this hike during Covid. The property owners on either side are super anti-visitors and it’s a challenging hike; about 15 miles round trip. The property owners will def kick you out if they see you.
