@nickandnatadventures: Roadtrip Day 151 of 365!! Today we visited a most anticipated place: Carlsbad Caverns National Park! This natural wonder holds the biggest single chamber cave in the nation. You can choose to go down the 750ft via elevator from the visitor center straight into the main chamber, or you can do like us and opt to walk the 1.25mi trail and have a more immersive experience. The cave itself has lots of beautiful formations of all types, most of which are millions of years old. This whole area in New Mexico used to be a shallow sea, and now has turned into desert, that’s why there can be many ocean fossils to be found. We love exploring caves and this is one we had heard by many people that it’s worth the visit, so it had been a very anticipated stop. Needless to say we enjoyed it to the fullest and probably spent a good 3-4hrs underground. We’d love to come back again and take the ranger-led Lower Cave tour!
