I used milk of mag 1/2 a bottle, warmed prune juice, 1/2 bottle. By the way we were eyeballing these ingredients. Always worked on my partial SBO.

We would get orders for milk and molasses enemas when I started nursing. Also had a doctor that would write for his patients to be rubbed from head to toe with A&D ointment (usually elderly patients, not babies).

When I first became a nurse I worked home health, I did a lot of wound care. I had a doctor order once that he wanted to pack a wound with sugar and Betadine. I was hesitant at first but the patient swore it helping and was the only thing that did help. Home health is wild sometimes.

Different patient: removed a PEG. When it wouldn't come, called MD. "Pull harder."

Yes, I have heard of the 3H enema but I never got that order. What we did do was a retention enema, where we filled a bag with 1000 ml warm water, then inflated a balloon to hold it in place. The patient then turned (or was turned) side to side to side as long as tolerated. He then sat on the toilet and the balloon was deflated. You can picture the rest. One of my supervisors was so freaked out about possible cardiac complications that she would
quietly roll the crash cart to the patient's door!

Well I’m 60 and when I was born I couldn’t hold down whatever kind of formula they had back then. So the Dr put me (a newborn) on Coke. They would open it and let it sit until it went flat and put it in my bottle.
