when u was growing up back in the 60 s in VA we had an American chestnut tree I use to live to eat that yellow but after they game from the spiny outer case and the brown nut

apparently packing soil against the bark will kill out some of the blight due to the microwave in the soil. They are the reason the roots stay healthy longer, and why many killed chestnuts shoot off new growth that later dies

Rub soil on the tree in the fungal spots, the soil actually acts as a reducer for the fungi, it doesn’t stop it completely but it reduces the size! Almost like cleaning an infection!

I know. I inherited a American chestnut chest of drawers. when the wood it was made of was pulled out of dark storage, it still had some blue in the grain. that's faded away now. the old guy that gave the wood to my father described how big the trees could be.
