@bearbaitofficial: Nobody born blind has ever been reliably documented to develop schizophrenia. That’s not a joke. That’s from large population studies. #Science #news #brain #blindness #schizophrenia

This is interesting. So, schizophrenia could be the modeling issues in the brain?

the opposite is also true. if you slowly go blind as an adult, you are highly likely to start hallucinating, as your brain tries to make sense of a progressively degrading signal. this happened to my father.

I’ve had auditory hallucinations if you can even call it that, where sometimes I can hear people having conversations perfectly with their exact voices and at a normal talking level but only at night

Fun fact! Babies can use their tongue to recognize objects that the tongue touched but the eyes haven't seen yet! 😁

Can you do a video on, how and why some people's brains are responsible for guilt that is not functioning at all. Because without guilt there can't be a fundamental change.

But, if you go blind later in life it's like you're predisposed.

I heard somewhere that certain cultures where people generally only have happy/positive based delusions/hallucinations whereas other parts of the world they tend to be scary and negative. Do you know if that’s true and if so why that could be?

So does that mean this indirectly proves ghosts/spirits don't exist?

I'm wondering if being really good at visualiseing things increase the risk? Or lower it? :)

I have a diagnosis in the schizophrenia family but i also have aphantasia and am not at risk of developing it even tho it is an 80% likelihood for people with my diagnosis

because i have retinitis pigmentosa my brain misclassifies things a lot. it’s strange but understanding why helps and typically when i focus my central vision on the thing it gets correctly classified
