I’m so sorry for your loss. My grandad took his cancer diagnosis so gracefully as well. He said ‘I’m 93, something has to get me.’ All he asked was not to know how much time he had left. We lost him 5 months later 💔

This well-dressed gentleman is my grandpa who passed away end of October 2025 - he took care of me my whole life and growing up I promised him that I’d take care of him one day and I was privileged enough to care for him for about 3 months, during that time I promised him he wouldn’t be alone, I’d hold his hand, the last night at the hospital the visit time was over and my dad tried to rush me out of the room, the maybe one minute I had alone with him I kissed his feet - my way of showing my gratitude for the man who carried me for so many years. I whispered into his ear that he was a father to me. The next morning we got a call that he was getting worse, now I was there, holding his hand, all the way from breathing so fast to so slow to stop breathing to turning cold and yellow, for so many hours I just sat there devastated. Grandparents are so incredible. It’s been months and I swear to God there isn’t one day where I don’t cry for at least an hour. I am 25 and yet I feel like a child, I have a huge family yet I am so so so alone, nothing soothes me like his smile did. I wear his pullovers sometimes, try to remember his voice and I just wait for my days to pass.

As I get older I realize that this.. is the only way to live.. even if you’re dying.. you keep on moving.. you keep on living in the flow.. until the very end.. because ultimately getting to age at all is a privilege denied to many…

Maybe he was able to make peace with it. With a risk of sounding insensitive being able to make peace with your own death is a blessing and power in a way. I cannot imagine being that strong.

Im so sorry for your loss 🫶🏼 My grandad took great pride in his garden and also loved to keep the birds fed🥰. His cancer spread to his lungs and he passed in September 2020. They have been reunited with their lost loved ones and will be waiting for us, one day we will meet them again ❤

My grandad got his news in october, he passed away in december just before christmas and week before death he had his last birthday. It was the saddest birthday i have ever been🥺

When my grandmother told me the doctors said there was nothing left to do for her cancer I won’t lie I lost my mind I cried so hard for her but she smiled and hugged me and said that she will teach me everything she can we even still hosted family events with how sick she was she didn’t want to be the reason the family didn’t see each other I know she hurts seeing how much our family drifted apart after she left us 😭
