I totally get that. Same with Styrofoam pieces rubbing on each other. My son loses his mind at the sound of cardboard. So yeah, you’re not the only one, and the way you described the physical reaction is perfect.

this is completely unrelated to what you’re describing but there was one wood cutting machine that sounded like chalk on a chalkboard basically like when chalk gets that irritating screeching sound when you draw a line on a chalkboard and it always triggered me so bad i had to cover my ears and the red headphones i had didn’t help because those headphones were more for construction and one time i almost had a meltdown because of it and this was at my old school at my old shop class too 😭😭😭

thanks for sharing your experience! my experience is a little different, but the way you described the "body shiver" yes this is get. it feels like the sound goes right through me. it physically makes me feel sick, and I will sometimes gag, particularly metal scraping metal.

Yes!! Misophonia turns me into a biatch. 😭😭😭 I get so embarrassed by my reaction by I cant help it. Hearing people eating or drinking, smack or lick their lips, snorting/hocking & sniffling, & sometimes coughing & sneezing. I also struggle with smells in the same way & have vasomotor rhinitis which doesn't help!

You think that’s bad? Try having your brain be the source of the noise you hear nonstop 24/7. Start chewing on something soft or rubber when this happens. It’ll mute the discordant texture somewhat.
