@cidstech: native linux on android tutorial: there are 2 types of native linux on android, one of them is linux with an android kernel (such as ubuntu touch or droidian) and the other one is linux with an upstream, mainline or downstream kernel (this means it doesn’t use an android kernel). we’re focusing on the latter with a distro called postmarketos (based on alpine linux iirc) that is compatible with plenty of devices (some devices have issues due to pmos not using an android kernel). the device shown in the vid is the samsung galaxy s4 mini value edition (aka an upgraded s4 mini released in 2015 that only supported android 4.4) and i used linux with some tools such as heimdall (for flashing the bootloader) and pmbootstrap (for building and installing pmos onto my device). first of all download the lk2nd bootloader for the system on a chip, which is a snapdragon 410, once u downloaded it flash it to the boot partition using heimdall. now hold power and volume down to go to the lk2nd fastboot mode and now on our linux rig we’ll start configuring pmbootstrap with this command (without quotes) “pmbootstrap init” make sure to select ur device (for some devices such as the poco x3 nfc or samsung galaxy s4 mini ve i recommend using a generic port for ur system on a chip). make sure to read the guide for ur device and once u finished configuring pmos type this command “pmbootstrap install” to build pmos using ur config. once u finished building pmos flash it using this command “pmbootstrap flasher flash_rootfs” or “pmbootstrap flasher flash_sdcard” if u wanna flash it to an sd card. wait for it to install and once it finished installing reboot ur device and experience freedom (keywords: linux, android, postmarketos, ubuntu, alpine linux, kernel, flashing, fastboot, gnome, gnome shell, phosh, droidian, debian, samsung, samsung galaxy s4 mini, galaxy, value edition) #TechTok #fyp #xyzbca #cidstech #linux

you should try plasma mobile on there (installed onto postmarketOS it should be in the repos), see if the performance is noticeably better or noticeably worse. I've done some messing around with Plasma Mobile but I've always been curious how it is on a older mobile phone cus usually my testing has been on touch screen laptops and convertible 2 in 1's
